Weekly Plans

August means back to school and back to a more strict schedule.  So weekly plans are back!

Bible study: Studying the Holy Spirit.  I'm simply using My Utmost for His Highest devotional.  There's a  great list of verses and devotionals that pertain to the Holy Spirit in the index.

Memory Verse: Matthew 18:15-17  My class is memorizing these verses.  While I "know" these verses I honestly don't have them memorized.  So I'm memorizing with my 2nd graders!

Train Them Up:  Working with Holly on keeping her room clean daily so it's not a big mess come the weekend.  Working with Dylan on speaking to his sister in a more loving tone.  Also, we are getting back to a more consistent schedule with our daily family devotions (which floundered during the summer months!).

Husband Encouragement:  A small thing this week-but a big thing-greeting my hubby at the door with a kiss when he gets home!

Monday-Spaghetti (an easy Monday night meal!)
Tuesday-Parmesan crusted chicken (will post the recipe after I make it), rice, cornbread
Wednesday-Sonny's (kids eat free!)
Thursday-Jambalaya with smoked sausage, salad
Friday-Chicken Tacos
Saturday-Friends over - TBD
Sunday-Labor Day picnic at church (LOVE church picnics!)

To Do List:  *Wash sheets-going to try one bed a day instead of all the sheets on the weekend
*"Catch up" on school work-just can't seem to get ahead
*Find a different potato salad recipe for the church picnic on Sunday
*Decide on breakfast recipe for Sunday School this week

I would love to read your weekly plans! Let me know if you post them!

Blessings to you,

Oven Corn on the Cob

My family loves corn on the cob.  It's cheap and yummy.
How do you make it at your house?
Well, because I can be day I put all the cobs-husks and all- straight in the oven.  And, surprisingly, they came out perfect!

I bake them for about an hour at 350 degrees.  As an added bonus, they stay hot for at least 30 minutes when you take them out of the oven since the husks act as an insulator.

The corn comes out crisp and delicious.  They make the house smell wonderful.  And what's even better, they're much easier to shuck when they're hot (which happens to be my husband's job!)

Try it this Labor Day weekend!

Blessings to you,

I love this list that I came across today.  It's a privilege and a responsibility for us to pray for our husbands.  You can print this bookmark from iMom for yourself here.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving...

...That's it Wednesday-which means it's "Kids Eat Free" night at Sonny's and I don't have to cook tonight!
...That Hurricane Irene is NOT heading our way (though the day off from school wouldn't have been so bad...)

...That the first week of school is behind me and I'm not feeling so frazzled.

...Pinterest. Time sucker? Yes.  Mindless way to unwind and see pretty things? Yes!

...These pants from Old Navy.  They were on sale for $15 this summer and I bought them in 4 colors!

...The song Honey Bee from Blake Shelton. It's just cute!

...My Utmost for His Highest Devotional.  Deep, life changing devotion time!

...Answered Prayer-my prayer lately has been "Change ME, Show me the error in MY ways" and He sooo has been doing that!

What are you loving this Wednesday?

Blessings to you,
