Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

My favorite song this week is
"What Do I Know of Holy?"
The most powerful line in this song is "I think I made You too small".
Oh, I've been so guilty of this...
Take a listen and be moved.

I made You promises a thousand times

I tried to hear from Heaven

But I talked the whole time

I think I made You too small

I never feared You at all No

If You touched my face would I know You?

Looked into my eyes could I behold You?

(CHORUS)

What do I know of You

Who spoke me into motion?

Where have I even stood

But the shore along Your ocean?

Are You fire? Are You fury?

Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?

What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

I guess I thought that I had figured You out

I knew all the stories and I learned to talk about

How You were mighty to save

Those were only empty words on a page

Then I caught a glimpse of who You might be

The slightest hint of You brought me down to my knees

(CHORUS)

What do I know of You

Who spoke me into motion?

Where have I even stood

But the shore along Your ocean?

Are You fire? Are You fury?

Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?

What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

(CHORUS 2)

What do I know of Holy?

What do I know of wounds that will heal my shame?

And a God who gave life "its" name?

What do I know of Holy?

Of the One who the angels praise?

All creation knows Your name

On earth and heaven above

What do I know of this love?

(CHORUS)

What do I know of You

Who spoke me into motion?

Where have I even stood

But the shore along Your ocean?

Are You fire? Are You fury?

Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?

What do I know? What do I know of Holy?

What do I know of Holy?

What do I know of Holy?

Weekly Plans

Bible Study:  Reading through the Bible-I think it's going to take me a little over 100 days this time-which is totally fine.  I have to say Numbers and Leviticus are not the most exciting books!  But I've been purposing to pray before my reading to ask God to show me what He wants me to glean from each section.

Memory Verse: Psalm 25:1  In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.

Husband Encouragement: We are going through XEE (an updated Evangelism Explosion) in our Sunday School class, and Bri and I got in a conversation about witnessing to his mean, ummm, unsaved boss.  I want to be diligent to pray for him in this and encourage him.

Also, apparently, Bri and I don't kiss enough during the day-according to an informal survey with friends-so I need to purpose to give more kisses during the day! (hee hee)

Train Them Up:  I would like to go back to planning our family devotion time more thoroughly.  We've been reading the Proverbs and God has used it for sure-but it seems like we can be more creative and purposeful in our topics.
Personal Goals: No fried foods this week!

Menu:
Monday:  pork chops, scalloped potatoes, muffins, salad
Tuesday:  Kielbasa, macaroni & cheese
Wednesday:  Sonny's (kids eat free)
Thursday:  Chicken Tacos
Friday:  Sloppy Joe, corn
3 Things I'm Thankful For Today:
1.  A day off today!! (Monday)
2.  Cheering Dylan on at his 2 baseball games this week
3.  This weekend coming up with NO plans!

A Pure Love

For love to endure, it must be kept pure.
I saw this quote on a church sign.  It got me to thinkin':
How can I keep my husband's and my love pure?
Here's some things that I came up with:
1.  Stay away from shows like soap operas that give women a distorted view of love and romance.  Nothing can derail our love lives like unrealistic expectations.
2.  Read the Love Chapter regularly to remind myself of what godly, true love is.
3.  Be encouraged by godly women who have godly marriages.  I try not to get in conversations or "venting sessions" with women who do not have godly marriages (Notice I didn't say "perfect marriages").  This only sets me up for exchanging God's standards for my marriage with the world's.
4.  Make the physical part of our marriage a priority.  We all know that when it's not, it's hard for men to keep their minds pure.
5.   Don't take my husband for granted.  He is the ultimate father, husband, and spiritual leader of our home.  When I fail to be grateful for him DAILY, I forfeit many blessings that God has for our marriage.

May everyday be Valentine's Day in our marriages!

Weekly Plans

Bible Study: Loving reading my Bible in 90 days.  Last year when I did this, my goal was completion.  This year my goal is understanding and revelation.

Memory Verse:
Genesis 41:16a "I cannot do it", Joseph replied to Pharoah, "but God will..."
What a great reminder!!!!

Husband Encouragement:
Welcome him home with hugs and kisses not just a "hi" and glance between preparing meals and dishes

Train Them Up: Dylan is soaring in math, but now he's struggling with a class that he doesn't like the teacher (& between me & you, I don't blame him) but we need to teach him about diligence and responsibility through this. This is life-we all have had bosses and authorites we don't "like" but we still have to work as unto the Lord.
Holly is getting messier by the minute! Help!

Personal Goals:
*eating healthy
*staying organized as Dylan begins this season of baseball and my schedule is disrupted.

MUST Do:
Detail my bathroom-yes, I said "detail".

Menu:
Monday-frozen pizza & cereal-Bri is going to the men's rally & Dylan has baseball practice until 5 so...night off for me:)
Tuesday-chicken tacos with spicy taco shells
Wednesday-Sonny's (kids eat free :))
Thursday-spaghetti night
Friday-Oven fried pork chops
Saturday-London Broil, baked potatoes

3 Things I'm Thankful For Today:

A Lesson in Forgiveness

So I am reading my Bible in 90 days.  I'm on day 4 and I look forward everyday to spending this time in God's Word.  It's literally the Light at the end of my day.  I'm at the end of Genesis and just finished reading about Joseph.   I couldn't help but giggle as I started reading through Joseph's story-only because on Sunday Brian wore this hideous shirt to church and our kids were calling him "Joseph" all day.  :))

Anywho, there were 3 verses in particular that God used to speak to me today.

Verse #1 Genesis 41:16  When Joseph was asked to interpret Pharoah's dream:
"I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharoah, "but God will give Pharoah the answer he deserves."
I love Joseph's humbleness here.  He was not about taking credit but giving God all the glory.  LOVE that!  My prayer is that I would do the same in all areas of my life.

Verse #2  Genesis 45:8 When Joseph was reunited with his brothers:
So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.
Wow-they left him for dead and he sees God's providence in what they meant for evil.

Verse #3 Genesis 50:20  This verse goes right along with Gen. 45:8- an old stand-by
You intended to harm me, but  God intended it for good, to accomplish what is now being done-the saving of many lives.
LOVE< LOVE>LOVE> these verses

This time around on my 90 day journey, I'm keeping a journal to write down these verses and truths that God's teaching me along the way.  Last time I read through the Bible, it was really for completion.  This time it's for understanding and revelation.  I'm so anxious to see all God has for me over the next 3 months!
