Master Closet Redo

When we moved in to our new home I unpacked quickly.  We were all settled in within a month.  Now that summer is here, I'm backtracking and meticulously organizing every room in a way that I couldn't when we first moved in. My first summer project is my closet.
I was tickled pink to have a walk in closet for the first time in 20 years-while it isn't as big as most it is bigger than what I had and I love it! So here's the before pics:

I've been storing my shoes in labeled clear bins for a few years now.  It worked well in my previous closet but not so much with this new space.

There's lots of shelving in the closet which I love but it wasn't being used to it's max potential.
So we emptied the closet and purged! The truth of the matter is the only way to be truly organized to get rid of stuff.  So that's what I did-5 bags of stuff went to Goodwill.

By the way, this is what my bedroom has looked like over this weekend as we worked on the closet!  No bueno.

And...here's the after!

I reused 2 of the organizers that were in the closet and relocated them. Now I have a whole wall of rods all to myself.  We took off the ugly plastic drawer pulls and put some gold ones on.

My favorite part is the wallpaper I got at Target that we lined the back of the shelves with.

One of the challenges for keeping my closet neat is that clothes always fall off the hangers.  So I invested in the black velvet hangers.  Not only do they all match which just looks neater, but now I don't have to worry about clothes falling off.

I color coded everything using ROYGBIV. It just looks neater that way!

And then there's the jewelry.  I got long drawer pulls and S hooks from Ikea.  Dylan spray painted them gold for me and now my necklaces are nice and pretty.

I lay out my jewelry and outfit the night before so this pretty candy dish holds the next day's jewelry.

Brian also installed a hook so I could hang the next day's outfit as well.

Brian put a small rod at the bottom of one of the shelves to hold my purses.  I used shower curtain rings to hang them.  This is one of my favorite organizational ideas in the closet. Thank you, Pinterest.

I put all of my sandals and flip flops in this cute, inexpensive basket from Ikea.

Brian installed a pull out rack for his belts and my scarves. (Yes, Brian worked hard in this closet!)

I found these bags at Ikea for $1.50!  They are holding our winter clothes and Brian's hunting clothes.
And this Brian's little corner of the closet LOL.

All of his clothes are on the opposite side.  They're not as cute :).

I love being organized! And it's always fun to add a little pretty to it too!
Now on to the next summer project!
